Serra Yenilmez

Hello everyone! I am Serra. I am a second year Biological Sciences student, and I am excited to apply for the role of RCSU Events Officer. Before coming to Imperial, I was actively involved in Interact, where I led community projects that brought people together around meaningful causes. Through this experience, and later through organising academic and student-led events, I learned how to manage projects from start to finish, work with diverse teams, and create spaces where everyone feels included and motivated. These experiences taught me that good events are not only well-organised but also inspiring and collaborative.

As Events Officer, I want to:

- Organize creative academic and social events that connect students across departments.

- Host career and research-focused panels with societies such as Pharmacology to explore paths in academia, industry, and healthcare.

- Bridge science and innovation by introducing discussions on biotech startups, entrepreneurship, and the commercial side of research—areas I am genuinely passionate about.

I believe events should be more than just gatherings. They should build connections, spark ideas, and strengthen our community. I hope to bring my experience, creativity, and enthusiasm to make RCSU events engaging and inclusive for everyone.
