Medicine (UG): Biomedical Science - Year One Academic Representative

Imperial College London offers a Medical Biosciences course like no other, not just because of its name. One of the main tenants of the flipped classroom model is the Learning Culture: the focus is on the students, not a lecturer. Our teachers try their best to guide us and improve our learning, yet they can only do so much without the input of their students.

Every cohort is different. The role of the academic officers is to try to help the lecturers adapt their teaching and the eModules to match the students, funneling the students' feedback to provide tangible improvements in the classroom and pre-session material.

If elected, I will strive for 2 things: open communication, that is, being the voice of every individual student; and real-time change, that is, ensuring that eModules are kept up-to-date, as soon as possible, so that any implementation suggested by the students and agreed upon in SSLGs actually affects and benefits the current cohort, as well as future classes.

Whilst I cannot claim to be the best choice, as I haven’t talked to all the other candidates, I will be one of the more passionate officers, as learning is something that I adore and I am not new to being an academic prefect.

Students, the focus is on you – I will contribute, whether as one of the 3 representatives or one of 157 undergraduates. We all share the same course, let us share the same voice. Vote for your voice. Vote for Or.
