Ugas Jeyakanth
Hi, I’m Ugas, a first-year Maths student, and I am excited to be running for the role of treasurer.
When I arrived at Imperial, I had almost zero financial knowledge and only gained an interest in the financial industry after signing up to Investment Society. Over the past year, I have attended various events that have sparked my passion for banking and so I am keen to become treasurer so I can help the society in the same way that it helped me.
As treasurer, I understand that I would have to oversee the society’s finances. I gained experience in this area last year when I was in charge of organising internal and external Chess events at school, working with an allocated budget to ensure that food, transport, and venue-hiring were covered for all events throughout the year. This has provided me with a thorough understanding of budgets and I will be able to apply this to comfortably deal with the society’s finances.
I would also look to:
- Offer more financial rewards for competitions to incentivise more engagement
- Improve the alumni network to ensure that members of the society are able to receive mentorship opportunities
- Organise more educational workshops so members with little experience can gain practical skills and insights into different fields.
With my experience and skills, I believe I can contribute to our society’s continued success.
Thank you.
