Yun Hui Tan

Hello! I am Abigail/ Yun Hui, and I am running to be Y1/2 representative for Cardiovascular society! Having several close family members who suffered from cardiac conditions, cardiology is a field dear to my heart. I am therefore invigorated to share this passion with my peers and promote them to join cardiovascular society conferences and activities, therefore I want to be a Y1/2 representative. In addition, I would love to contribute towards the teaching series, conferences and worshops, as well as gain more experience in logistical handling and professional networking from my seniors, and I feel that being a Y1/2 representative provides an invaluable opportunity.

Having been part of iPRAS subcommittee and SurgSoc subcommittee for the past year, I helped in tasks from procuring conference supplies, refreshments and set up/ cleanup, to ushering and interacting with delegates and demonstrators. This has given me a deeper understanding of the logistics, coordination and flow needed to run conferences. I believe I am equipped to step up and help with conference preparations for cardiovascular society.

I was previously Vice-President of a nursing home volunteering programme, where I guided volunteers to plan activities catering to specific needs of the elderly. I helped to facilitate committee meetings on the direction and planning of the programme, while liaising and coordinating with volunteers and nursing home staff. These faciliation and liaison experiences would set me up to coordinate with cardiovascular society members, delegates and committee effectively.
