My main two objectives as your events secretary will be to organise guest speakers and compete in competitions of all sort.

Before the year began, in September 2023, me and 4 others attempted to join the Bloomberg Global Trading challenge but were unable to do so as we found out about this very late. This year I will ensure there is greater awareness about such competitions by organising a newsletter for whoever is interested. Moreover, I will contact other relevant societies across universities to launch competitions.

Furthermore, I discussed organising a trading competition within our course, where groups manage portfolios over a TBD period. Now that there is a suitable role to do so, I will endeavour to launch this competition, incorporating any feedback from you all.

Regarding guest speakers, I will expand our guest speaker programme to also include zoom calls with relevant industry professionals in finance, consulting and any other relevant fields. I feel that doing so will increase our ability to procure speakers as we take up less of their time and can reach out globally. Furthermore I have found the guest speaker events, that I attended throughout second term, very insightful and would like to bring these experiences to EFDS.

Lastly, I will ensure you have a say in what events you want by sending out an anonymous, always open, form where anyone can suggest new ideas.
